Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

Hi,
I have just upgraded from "bbyw option2" to the new 'Plusnet Extra" -adsl2+ service as it promised upto 14Mbps. I received an email today to confirm that change has been completed.

However, on viewing my router stats, it appears that the connection speed has remained as it was.
ADSL Link                Downstream    Upstream
Connection Speed  7616 kbps        448 kbps
Line Attenuation      29 db                  8.5 db
Noise Margin          6 db                    26 db
Modem/Router is a Netgear DG834GV2 with the latest firmware.
I have restarted the router but the same figure persist.
So my question is do i have to wait a few days for the change to be fully implemented and for the connection speed to increase?
Thanks

Re: Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

The upgrade is done in two stages, first the account change and then the change to ADSL2+
I presume you have checked that BT have made ADSL2+ available on your exchange?

Re: Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

Thanks for the reply. The exchange is ADSL2+ enabled..
I did a BT speedtest this evening and it said i had an IP profile of 6500 Kbps which doesn't appear to be correct for ADSL2+.
Any thoughts?
======================================================================================
Download speed achieved during the test was - 5442 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7616 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 9.41:21.13:69.46 (SBE:NBETongueBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Re: Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

If you've only just passed your normal billing date and the change of account type has just completed I wouldn't expect your connection to have been switched yet. Had you previously been moved to ADLS1 over 21CN? That can speed things up considerably if you had, otherwise it takes BTw a week or so from when Plusnet place the order and they only place the order once the account change has completed.

Re: Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

Ok thanks. I would be easier if they mentioned these things during the upgrade process or when they sent the emailSmiley
My billing date is today so i guess that explains it. I guess i'll have to wait a week or two for BT to do their stuff....
As far as i know, i was on vanilla ADSLMax (not on 21CN).
Thanks

HI staley84,
I've just checked the BT systems and the order for you to go to ADSL2+ will complete on monday so you should see the increase from then.

Re: Plusnet Extra adsl2+ upgrade - connection question.

His router stats show a very good line - are you uncapping his upload as well or will it be limited to 448?

I would be handy if the automated emails from plusnet could mention that it may take few days to complete the order. It would stop people like me pestering you guysSmiley

If he wants us to do that we can once the order is processed; just needs to let us know, it'll only take 24 hours
