Plusnet DNS issues

Following the recent DNS issue, I am still unable to access certain websites via the PN DNS, despite this issue being marked as resolved on the Service Status page.  For example, www.ebuyer.co.uk does not work, but it does if I use OpenDNS, so it's clearly a PN DNS issue.
Can anyone else confirm this, so that we can put some pressure on PN to re-open investigations into this and fix the problem?
Thanks,
Gary

Re: Plusnet DNS issues

Is anyone else seeing this? A check of the example given is showing exactly the same details from our DNS servers and OpenDNS.

Re: Plusnet DNS issues

Chris,
Thanks for following this up. Interestingly, the PN DNSs you've tested are not the same as the ones I have been trying to use.  The ones I'm using have the following IPs, which I was given by PN support a while back:
212.159.11.150
212.159.13.150
Perhaps that's where the issue lies?

Re: Plusnet DNS issues

Hi Gary,
That's certainly a possibility.
Personally, I wasn't aware that 212.159.11.150 existed (although that's not to say that it doesn't.
I'd try using the 2 that Chris has quoted and see if you see an improvement.

Re: Plusnet DNS issues

James,
Thanks for that.  I was definitely given the DNS above by PN support, and a Google search on the IP address seems to link it with Plus.  However, I've changed the servers I'm using to the .13.49 / .13.50 ones that Chris listed, and it now seems to be working.
Perhaps it would be worth you checking the older servers I had, though, because if other customers are still reporting issues (and the last Service Status post suggested a handful were) this may be where the issue lies.

Re: Plusnet DNS issues

Yep - It looks like those are the DNS server that we use for our web hosting rather than the DNS servers we would use for internet connectivity.
I'd definitely suggest going with the ones Chris gave above.
