PlusNet email - via IMAP - from anywhere ?

Am I correct in thinking that PlusNet customers CAN access their PlusNet email accounts from a different (i.e. non-PlusNet) connection - using IMAP ?
When I say "access"... I'm thinking of both "receive & send"... I seem to recall that sending via SMTP is sometimes "not possible" if you are not using your own ISP... ?
The reason I ask is that the person in question has a 2nd home in France, and wants to access PlusNet email from both UK and France.
Many Thanks
Andy Keys

Reading emails using IMAP should be fine.
Sending should be possible providing the account username and password is used in the SMTP configuration. It is however possible that the French ISP may block access to any SMTP servers but their own.

In which case you would need to set the French ISP's SMTP server as the outgoing mail server while you were connected to them (leaving the incoming as imap.plus.net). You would, of course, need to change back to PN's when connected to PN

Providing the French ISP's SMTP server allows outgoing mail to be "from" a domain they don't host.

You could, of course, just use Webmail
