Plodding Upload

My upload speed is less than 0.8mps( usually 0.5 to 0.65) and has been for ages - been in hospital so have not had time to pursue the matter. First time I complained months ago the nice man in support sent me a replacement modem and intimated that all would be well once I installed it.  I did but it made no difference at all.  Upload speed  has become an issue since I started archiving stuff in the Cloud which takes ages. What do I  do now chaps?  Cry

Re: Plodding Upload

Depending upon how far you are from the exchange those speeds could be right for your line.
Could you post your router stats please (http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html tells you how to find them).

Re: Plodding Upload

@Wingco39: Yes it is.
@Anybody: Does anyone know what the normal target noise margin is for upstream?

Re: Plodding Upload

This is from the point where upstream was uncapped
Rx-Noise=6.1 Tx-Noise=9.2 Rx-Sync=4419 Tx-Sync=888
So I assume 9dB interleaved is normal

Re: Plodding Upload

@Jim He obviously has interleaving off. If 9db is the default, as he's currently showing 11.6 a daytime resync should get some extra upload speed.
With 48 days up time stability obviously isn't an issue!
@Wingco39 Could you try doing a graceful resync in the middle of the day please (wait till tomorrow if needed). To do that click disconnect in the router interface, then power off the router and leave it for a minute or so. Then power it back up and if it doesn't connect automatically after a couple of minutes click connect.
When you've done that please post the full stats as in your last post again. If you could also repost them at least 6 hours later we can see how many errors are being logged.

Re: Plodding Upload

That resync has increased the connection speeds pretty nicely!
From
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:  795 / 14,874
To
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:  1,227 / 15,437
You should be able to get a bit more from your upload now assuming all stays like that.

Re: Plodding Upload

That all looks nice - good speeds up and down, noise margin hasn't dropped in the evening and the error rates look about acceptable. Presumably you are now seeing better upload speed.

Re: Plodding Upload

Looks better on paper jelv but sometimes speed test results are Ok and at other times not so good.  See attached results from Thinkbroadband.com. speed test. OK I know it's not the "official" BT test but it's a pretty good indication. I'm connected to the router by a couple of TP link plugs and the router is connected to the telephone "master" socket.  Should I just do a reset every so often to get the speed back up again? Undecided
