Please someone explain whats going on !

had broadband about a month now  and to be honest instead of getting better things seem to have gone south ! .
towards the end of my training period i was getting 6.2 u/l and 448 d/l (capped)  with 20 m/s ping  , had the  u/l uncapped  figures were the same  apart from u/l went to 948 ish  .
around this time i also asked for interleaving taking off . which i was told was done  and ping dropped to around 12 to 15 m/s then i get a service notice saying moved to 21cn  and started getting some disconnections  so PN said it would be better to switch interleaving back on ... ok they know best  ... but now  i have
with BT wholesale checker thing D/L 5.8  U/L 0.58  and ping 40 m/s  .. now D/l is ok  but ping is almost at talktalk level of steady 50 m/s  and double what i was getting at the end of training  and U/L  is like 0.4 less than before all the above changes ..
i also pay for the pro add on  .. but it seem i may aswell cancel that as i can get 50 m/s on just normal  line settings  ..
could some please sort this out  and explain  why things seem to have gone south since  21 cn  change or interleave switch or what ever it is ?
thanks

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

You couldn't have the upstream uncapped unless you were on 21CN
Pro addon doesn't affect the ping
Please post the stats from your router

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

i was going by the sequence of events as stated in your original post
Upload has dropped because interleaving has been applied to the upload
What do you get if you ping  ntp.plus.net
This is what I get with an interleaved line

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

dont now how to ping that address .. but as explained below i would like to know  why i have  lost 200 of my upload and why my ping has nearly doubled  when the line should now be back to how it was at the end of training .
i would just like it sorting  so i can get on with my gaming instead  having to wonder if my connection is upto it !  and if i,m paying for something i dont need or  something thats not making any difference  re the pro add on .

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

Open a Command Prompt window - it is under Accessories in the Windows menu.
Type ping ntp.plus.net
Right click on the window and click on Select All then press Enter and it will be coped to the clipboard and you can then paste it into a post
I have explained why you lost some of the upload - When the upstream is interleaved it is automatically limited to 888kbps

my connection seems to have been stable now for over 24 hours  will the speed profile start to increase/decrease  by its self ?

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

Hi Wayne,
If you were having some connection drops without interleaving, it is sensible to have it turned on.
It's up to you really.  We can turn it off, but your connection might start dropping again.

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

Hi Jameseh
thanks for that but  i,m just gonna leave it for a while ... seems so many changes has got a little confusing  .... however could you answer the question re profile increase / decrease  now that the line is stable  and also if the  U/L  is capped at 888  while on interleaving  or can it be uncapped

Re: Please someone explain whats going on !

What do you get running a BT Speedtester @ http://www.speedtester.bt.com ?
I believe the upload will remain capped whilst you have interleaving turned on, although realistically unless you are sending large files, you are unlikely to notice the difference.
