Albeit still incorrectly address, I have just receive the router posted yesterday. Glad our usual postie was on duty! Thanks anyway. I'll try it shortly.

Glad you got it, I would imagine that that was the one previously sent out, you may receive another one. Let me know if you do and how this router performs,

Anyway, since connecting "today's" router, it has run fine - as far as I can tell. It still whistles like the other two, however, so I really am convinced now that they all do and I am just one of the few who can hear it. Unless they really are not supposed to make any noise and I have got another dud - eh gads! I can hear dog whistles too, you know ... just kidding.

Is the noise coming from the router itself or the power adapter? That's some supersonic hearing you've got.

It's from the router itself. And, um, yes ... I can hear it from 12ft away!
