Please bump my IP Profile back up (I've been testing a variety of routers)

Hi all,
I've been testing out various routers and wiring around my home - which means I have been disconnecting from broadband lots.
As a result, I believe you have dropped my IP Profile down to 1.25Mbps which is equating to download speeds of around 1200kbps when I used to easily get 1700+ kbps (even 2000 on a good day  :))
Could you bump me back up please as I don't have any stability issues at the higher rate.
Very much appreciated - as family are complaining  Roll_eyes
Thanks

It is unlikely that your profile is the problem
Can you post the stats from your router noise margin, speeds and attenuation

Hi ericnel,
Welcome to the community forum Smiley
I've placed a SNR reset on your line as your line is capped. This usually takes affect within 4 hours, your line will be in a training period over the next 10 days so please try an refrain from turning your router off.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Chris - and thanks for the welcome. That should do the trick... Ill resist moving any router Smiley Think I settled on location and brand.
Hi Oldjim - I think the above should do the trick (as Ive had similar issue before) but here are my stats (which TBH I have never really looked at!). Are they "ok" ?

Now that was quick - it looks as though the SNR reset has happened already  Grin
However you have a problem
Your upstream rate is far too low - I would leave it for the 10 day training period then have a look at the result from the test socket (if you have one)

Re: Please bump my IP Profile back up (I've been testing a variety of routers)

My upstream has always been "slow" over the 4 years. I think best ive had is around 250kbps. I sort of just assumed that would be as good as I can get given download has only vary rarely broken 2000kpbs.

If you are trying to test different routers and wiring configurations then you are very unlikely indeed to get meaningful data about your boroadband connection unless you look carefully at your router stats.
Edited to add specific reference to broadband

Re: Please bump my IP Profile back up (I've been testing a variety of routers)

Hi Reed - the testing of  different routers (had three to try :)) was to find which router would
-  give best wifi coverage in the house
-  whilst working with all our devices/apps
e.g. one router disliked one online game - documented issue with firmware it turns out.
Hence download speeds wasn't something I was looking at while doing it.
Then when I settled on the cisco I noticed my download speeds had dropped significantly over the week and my IP Profile was now 1.25. Hopefully next few days should see it step up again.

Yes, ericnel, I thought that must be it after I made the post (so edited it to try to make that clear).  But once you get the hang of where to find the stats, it is well worth keeping an eye on them.

Re: Please bump my IP Profile back up (I've been testing a variety of routers)

Thanks Reed (and all of you). Turning out to be pretty much the most helpful forum Ive discovered in a while!
Just done a Pingtest.net .... OMG... my line has never had a ping of less than 45ms in 4 years. Now getting 25ms each time!!!
Let me at BF3 later this evening! (i'd almost take slower download speed with a sub 30ms ping!)

Re: Please bump my IP Profile back up (I've been testing a variety of routers)

45 to 55ms ping for 4 years
25 to 30ms ping for... 4 hours Smiley
Now back at 45ms - but was doing weird stuff all last night, spiking at 500ms, hence 45ms sounds good again Smiley
But good news is my broadband download speeds are edging up again since the SNR reset. Now at 1500kpbs (up from 1200kbps).
Just a shame the low pings went away....
Lets see what next few days brings...

The modify order to move you over to ADSL2+ hasn't completed yet, hopefully this may bring better news.
