When my SN margin is a bit up and down I find lifting the receiver on my phone for a few seconds generally shifts it from the bottom of its range back up to the top, ie a rise of about 3 or 4 dB. Doesn't always work but has done 3 times out of 3 this morning. Just wondered if this is odd or does it work for other people too?

I'd say it was worth changing your filter and plug into the test socket and see what happens

If he plugs into the test socket direct, then he won't be able to see if lifting and cradling the phone affects the SNR........

Yes he will - you plug a filter into the test socket into which you can plug the router and the phone

But it might be his filter that is causing the problem!
