Is this just a replacement, or an extension, or a new line?

So, in effect you are wanting an extension? Sorry for a further question, but what type of master socket have currently got? - a photograph would be very helpful.

Or look in local rag; many ex O/Reach engineers advertise their services there.
Or a sparkie can do.

@Gel Agreed, but if it is a 5C with a filtered faceplate, I think the OP may run into problems fitting an extension.
When they reply with the socket/faceplate models, I will be passing this to a couple of the more knowledgable 'telephone guys' - it is a little way outside my comfort xone.

How much would it cost to extend a phone line?
Assuming it's actually a standard phone-only extension socket you require, the answer is - very little.
This guy knows his stuff, and will guide you through it.
Otherwise, a local independent (often one man band and ex-BT/Openreach) comms engineer will do it for a reasonable price.
As a last resort, you could ask Plusnet to arrange the job with Openreach. Can't quote any figures, but it'll be in the arm and a leg territory.

HI @adrian001,
Thanks for getting in touch, I appreciate your query.
In answer to your question, an Openreach engineer call-out is roughly around £180 although this is not a quote. As advised by @ 198kHz , you'll probably find some one local who could do it a lot cheaper.
Thanks - LF
A new outreach socket
Do you mean Openreach?
Adding an extension is incredibly easy to do yourself no different to running an extension lead for the mains.
What do you intend to plug into the extension?
