Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Well, started this morning so left routerstats running while i was at work (graph below).
Usual things checked (test socket, filter e.c.t ) gave CS a ring and told it`s a 3 day wait while it`s looked at. It`s a overhead line and before today it`s been fine, but seems to have coincided with the wind, but if it was something loose/broke then i guess the landline wouldn`t work also?
There was a BT engineer working at the top of the pole but when i shouted up he was working on lines for properties opposite me and wasn`t something general he was sorting.
Apart from equipment failure, what else might cause a intermittent BB but a working phone?

....BT speedtest added. (Between the dropouts!).

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Your connection certainly doesn't look good for last night:

Does your phone line have any interference or crackling?

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Hi there,
Interleaving is applied as a modify order, so that's what that'll be - hope it does stabilise things for you, if not we'll test further and get the fault escalated. Interleaving does help in a lot of these sorts of situations though.

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Didn't know interleaving was off,  but as the problem suddenly started, wouldn't that measure be "papering over the cracks" therfore hiding a underlying cause?

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

It's possible, but if the line conditions have changed and interleaving is now necessary to hold a stable connection then it's a legitimate fix. We'll just have to see what happens.

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Left routerstats running while I'm @ work anyway so I'll see what I'll  come home to later.
Be a pita if interleaving is needed seeing I'm less then 300m from the exchange. 😄

NM stuck on 12.5 db /DL sync about 3k+ lower as a result, it seems and my uncapped UL is lower too.
Would it be a 3 day wait, or being ADSL2 i thought it should pick up straight away?

Well, interleaving was turned on this morning, here`s current line stats.....

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 12,017 / 3,345
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 3
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 1,818,558,464 / NA

Has my uncapped upload been re-capped,also my NM seems stuck on 12db so DL sync is way lower that it should be for being so close to my exchange.
Just about to do a hard reset and monitor the connection with routerstats today.

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Question #75621505  can someone @ pn towers decipher that into English for me? Lol
Engineer visit requested, curious to the fact found in testing. 🙂

Re: Phone fine,BB dropping out.

Hi there,
LTB: Lower Threshold Breach, basically your downstream speed is less than the fault threshold profile set on your line.
Multiple drops - should be apparent, basically the tests have shown that the line is dropping.
ILQ: Not sure about the I but I know LQ is Line Quality - if it's Amber it means errors and/or drops have been seen on the line. This isn't necessarily indicative of a fault itself but when taken into account with the line's length and usual operating conditions/SNR etc it can do.

5 min drop where PN were running tests @ midday. With a 9db downstream attenuation should i expect in a perfect world to have the connection maxing out?
Just done a BT speed test, upcapped uploads deffo gone, would that need re-ordering once the problems fixed?
