Perplexing Problem

Perplexing Problem
I have a netgear DG8234g router connected by ethernet cable to my desktop
computer which  I dual boot either windows XP or Linux.I cannot connect to the internet when in windows xp even with the firewall disabled.I can however connect perfectly when booted into Linux.
Further I have a wireless linked laptop running windows vista which also connects perfectly.
I would like to solve this problem with windows xp.
Thanks for  any help.
Regards

I have had no trouble with my previous providers and have just got this problem since moving to plusnet.

Re: Perplexing Problem

Have you checked you have the correct IP address, mask and gateway set in XP?

Re: Perplexing Problem

Check Windows TCP/IP is set to obtain IP automatically.
Verify settings in a dos box with ipconfig/all. Gateway should be your router and IP should be similar to the router with the last number different

Re: Perplexing Problem

Just to add to Peter's post - also check DNS points to the router, or to PlusNet DNS servers
