Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Hi,
Parents Plusnet internet connection (The old BBPlus account) has gone a bit pear shaped..
Off peak (Midnight to 4pm) seems to be rate limited to 128kbps Only web traffic with P2P blocked completely
Peak time seems to work at line speed (6200kbps), don't use P2P at this time.
Pings are very good at all times, just throughput
Run www.speedtest.net many times, BT speedtester shows similar, second test never works.
Any Ideas?
Craig

Re: Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Looks like your parents have blown the limits for the accoung, 4GB and 50GB off peak if my memory serves correctly.

Re: Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Hi Craig,
Feel free to PM me your parents username and I'll have a look at the account.
It does sound rather like the usage allowance has been exceeded though.

Re: Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Hi Craig,
Looking at the account I think you are talking about, the usage has reached over 50GB off-peak this month and therefore it should actually be rate limited 24/7.
As Jelv states, there is a similar issue (Premier not Plus) being discussed in usenet too so Dave T is currently checking your account and will make sure that it's on the correct profile now and after 4.

Re: Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Yup.. a little more digging reveals that the off-peak limit has been exceeded.. Too use to my old Premier account I had... Gonna have to grovel to upgrade it now
On a seperate note, had no email, or does it show up on the VMBU tool that i've exceeded my usage.
Cheers for your help

Don't forget that if you are downloading programs you are probably uploading as well and PN counts the uploads.
Have a look at http://odmonitor.blogspot.com/

If that link doesn't work for you its the latest topic in the plusnet.service.customer-feedback newsgroup so it's very easy to find.

Re: Pear shaped traffic shaping??

Sure.  It won't improve the throughput speeds until billing passes though Wink
