Password protection for TG585 v7

Can someone please advise what the default log on and password is for the new Plusnet/Thomson TG585 v7?
At the moment I type in 192.168.1.254 and it opens the user interface immediately. There must be some way to protect this!

Re: Password protection for TG585 v7

If it was a speedtouch supplied 585v7 then the login is
username: admin
password: admin
However a factory reset may change it to the Speedtouch default
User Name = Administrator
Password = blank (don't type blank just press return  Grin)
Note - they are case sensitive

Just had a dig through the 585v6 manual (I used to have one) and memory was correct - you don't seem to need a password except for remote access or telnet

Re: Password protection for TG585 v7

There was great confusion about 6 months ago when a friend signed up and tried this password .
Just lokked at the very latest router instruction leaflet - which I received this week from PN and it doesn't mention it !.

Re: Password protection for TG585 v7

Since it is a Plusnet supplied router the default username will be Administrator and the password blank (there isn't one).
To change it go to Home -> Toolbox -> User Management  and click the Change my password link in the Pick a task list. Leave the current password box empty and enter a new one in the New and Confirm boxes. Click Change Password to make the alteration.

Re: Password protection for TG585 v7

Are you sure about that as that is the Speedtouch default and I thought Plusnet used the another one

I said there was confusion !!
The documentation needs to be reviewed and made totally clear.

Re: Password protection for TG585 v7

there is no mention on the Plusnet Photocopy, but on the Thompson printed sheet it is definitely Administrator and the serial number on the label under the router.
