Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

Hi guys, For some reason in the evenings I am getting terrible packetloss (Around 50%) and this only seems to be happening every evening; doesn't happen during the day. Any idea what I can do? It's not my PC because I've done a reinstall.
I've also been losing connection continuously in the night, and this is NOT the router loosing connection. Both routers seem to say they are still synced up.
What can I do?
Cheers,
Ash

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

You could try setting up a ping graph over the weekend to show the problems your experiencing.

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

Is that using a wireless connection to the router? If so do you see any problems when connected using an Ethernet cable?

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

Its not a wireless connection and I have tried to bypass the modem and connect straight into the openreach modem that still gave me packet loss.
Now here is the interesting part I change my dns . and used the one from  http://www.opendns.com/ and i have no packet loss

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

That makes no sense whatsoever!
How were you measuring the 50% packet loss?

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

I would suggest pathping would be a better test as it will show the packet loss at each step in the path.

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

I note that the route goes via proxad - there's been quite a bit said about them recently!

Re: Packet Loss in Evenings on 80 Meg fibre

You'll probably find that anything routing other than proxad is OK but I bet sod's law says most of the sites you want are via proxad! Sad
