I've been through the faults troubleshooter (Question #79580565) due to my gaming experience being awful. I've also been seeing packet loss. After completing the troubleshooter, I seem to have been switched back to ADSL from ADSL2+, I assume this is part of the faults process. Could one of the DCT guys please either change my line profile as it has stayed at 15.7 despite the BT IP profile currently being at 7.17, I believe this difference can actually make the situation regarding packet loss worse. Or switch it back to ADSL2+, I haven't tried forcing this myself via the router as the troubleshooter requested I leave everything connected.
The packet loss on my TBB graph may seem minor? But in the past I've only seen one or two tiny specks of red. Pathping to various sites (google, plus.net and the addresses of game servers) shows packet loss of anywhere between 3-15% I'm no expert, but I'm under the impression that anything over 0% is bad.
I have previously had an engineer visit due to poor gaming (prior to the exchange being upgraded to 21CN) and he said everything here was fine.
Ps, the disconnections in the first few days of the 10 day training period were due to power cuts, more recent ones were me gateway hopping after particularly bad gaming experiences.
Thanks in advance,
Wo0x.
*edit* One other thing I noticed is the attenuation, I was under the impression that ADSL2+ brings with it a slight increase in attenuation, but I've found it to be the opposite with the downstream. Currently 23.0, it was 19.0 after the upgrade, but after a few days this stayed at 20.0. The upstream attenuation is currently 11.5, but was 13.1 when on ADSL2+ No idea if that is relevant, but I was curious as I'm sure I read attenuation increases on ADSL2+

The drop in speed seems to be due to DLM adjustments rather than a move back to ADSL1 although I totally understand how it looks that way.

As the line is stable I'm going to submit an SNR reset, that should go through within a few hours and get the speeds back up to scratch, we'll then have to see how things are for you following that.

The drop in speed isn't the reason I believe it has changed back to ADSL... my router shows modulation as G.Dmt, whereas before I submitted the fault report this was showing as 'ADSL2+'
Hopefully this will change back once the SNR reset completes as I'd rather not change anything myself once this happens, ideally I'd like to stay connected for the full 10 days.
Cheers,
Wo0x.

Quote from: Kelly Have you done a speed test recently at http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/ ?
Yes, I've done several. Just completed one now. That tester has only recently started working for me. Bandwidth and latency results have always been good at speedtest.net, and I get 0% packet loss at pingtest.net. My only reason for thinking I have a problem is the poor gaming, the TBB graph and packet loss on pathping results.
Other things that may or may not be related, sometimes webpages seem to hang until I refresh the page, images might not load and Netflix doesn't stay at the highest resolution despite me having plenty of bandwidth and not using the internet for anything else at the time, though I rarely experience these things, the constant is poor gaming and packet loss via pathping.
Cheers,
Wo0x.

I've set your profile to match your new speed so the TM works and we'll have a look next week about why you've ended back up on ADSL1

Quote from: dave What router are you using?
Asus N55u... Shall I force ADSL2+ rather than have it set to auto? It had previously always sync'd at ADSL2+ when on auto though.

Ah ok, so I should just leave it for now?

I've continued to see dropped packets and had poor gaming, the router re-sync'd on ADSL2+ this morning (Sunday) at 09:03. Downstream SNR is showing as -1.2 Attenuation has also dropped by 3, am I wrong in thinking attenuation generally goes up on ADSL2+?
Stats from my router

Modulation : ADSL2+

Quote I have tested your connection today and found that some of your connection settings are low. This can cause and issue with packet loss, as such i have amended these settings and you should now see an improvement over the next 24 hours.
This has resulted in a re-sync on ADSL1 again.
*edit*
I've switched to ADS2+ from auto in my router settings. The fault ticket says
Is this the same as SNR that is displayed in my router? As this is showing as 0.3. Shall I try another router or leave it for now?
Quote
Customer is advising of packet loss. More than likely due to the 3dB target SNR so will increase to 6dB.
BT IP profile = 15.24 Plusnet line speed 17.2.
