Re: PPP dropped unable to authenticate

Are people getting reconnected following a reboot of router?
I thought these problems were fixed, I guess not!

Router reboot isn't required - at least in my case
Using the disconnect/reconnect option several times eventually fixed it

So what happened - I think we should be told!

If I had to guess, it looks like it was another problem with one or more of the bng gateways.

How about we give them a chance to get the service back up first?
Looking at the graphs I would suspect that they lost the bng gateways again.

The statement therein was...
Quote
Some known hardware bugs caused a cascade of disconnections from the BNGs, i.e. the disconnections from one BNG caused a similar impact when lots of those customers attempted to reconnect on the next BNG.  We've worked out how to lesson the impact of another failure now so it shouldn't happen again, and we're working with the vendor to get the bugs fixed.

Looking at the user's graph now, it looks like a massive drop - but hard to tell as you've said.

Re: PPP dropped unable to authenticate - 18.00 on 17th Sept 2014

Hi all,
Really sorry about this!
Our network engineers are working on fixing this issue now and they won't stop until it's resolved!
Can we please request that if you are currently unable to connect that you power down your routers/modems and not attempt to re-connect for another 1-2 hours? We'll post updates to the service status as soon as we have any.
