PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

After making a big fan fare back in march about been able to offer us unlimited broadband, this is no more  , looks like PN has done a u turn and ditched this in favor of a 80gb premium product .
I wounder why they have decided to do this? answers on a post card

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

Have you clicked on the link :
   *  Surf as much as you like
   * Send and receive 6,000 emails
   * Download 8,000 songs
   * Download 30hrs of iPlayer content in High Definition
   * Watch 20 hours of video on YouTube
   * Play over 80 hours of online games
Hmm, right now I think a lot of people would say that 3 or 4 of those are not actually possible at the moment.

And it only costs as much as my BBYW option 2 and has 65GB more included bandwidth, and ADSL2+ support

Does this mean they are no longer selling the Unlimited package?   If so, I wonder why?   Did I miss something or was this Premium product mentioned before?

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

Whilst the  traffic management does not seem as harsh as unlimited, i would not associate the new product with the word  "premium", there's to much traffic shaping for this to be a premium product .

Looks like Plusnet Pro has been upped to 20gig badwidth which was needed.

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

Yes - Gaming is in Titanium on both.
However, everything in Pro is "Gold" at the lowest, so should we misprioritise any of your gaming traffic on Pro, it will still come down at a good speed, meaning you shouldn't spot any latency issues.

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

It includes the pricing for 21CN
Value: Up to 8Mb
Premium: Up to 20Mb
Pro: Up to 20Mb
I guess Unlimited on up to 20 would have been rather too much to expect!

Broadband: Andrews & Arnold Home::1 (FTTC 80/20)

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

I have been looking at lots of other ISP's very closely over the past week as I thought I might have to move away due to issues using unlimited, all of the other options were more of less the same they just all seemed to offer more bandwidth then Plusnet, this could be the difference between staying or going, I think the Premium product looks ok, but its judged on its performance, but line speed gaming had to be better then 2mb.

Re: PN no longer offering unlimted broadband

I bet the current Unlimited will remain "Up to 8Mb" and that 21CN trialists on Unlimited will either be capped at 8MB or have to "Upgrade" to Pro or Premium.

Premium replaces Unlimited - it's at exactly the same price point. So you effectively get less usage but the usage you do get is higher priority. An idea that is perhaps quite sound, aside from the farcical u-turn it demonstrates.
As a side note, once again I'm disappointed to find that the true price of Premium is hidden in the small print - when I saw 80GB 'from £11.99' my first reaction was 'ooh I wonder if this is the "option 2" product I've been hoping for'... but no, just PN hiding the true price as usual.
