Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

I have just moved home and my plusnet wifi was due to transfer this week. I had to be moved onto a non-fibre plan as my new area doesn’t have fibre. Today I’ve received an email from plusnet to say they can’t go ahead with my new package as planned due to Openreach Stop Sell (copper wires). I am worried that as I also don’t have access to fibre, there won’t be a wifi option for me. I can’t seem to find out online. Does anyone know what an alternative would be?

@Tashaxprince

First question is what package were you on before?

Use the Checker shown below to see what's available to you. If you can post a screen image of the results (hiding your personal details) then the Forum may be able to offer suggestions.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

To include the screen iamge on a reply click on the icon that looks like a rectangle with a mounain in it.

You my need to phone PN to find out what's happening. You could try the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632

@Tashaxprince  to Openreach Stop Sell (copper wires)

there isn't a stop sell on copper wires! There's a stop sell on copper based phone services, but broadband will still be supplied over copper for a long time yet in many areas.

As @bmc says , let's see the btw checker results...

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

Hi Brian

I previously had unlimited fibre broadband.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the information required to fill in the link you have sent.

Thank you for your reply all the same

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

Yes apologies, still wrapping my head around it! I don’t have any of the information to fill in the link. There’s no landline, and the website to find my UPRN won’t let me on.

Just use this link: https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome and select your address from the drop-down.

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

I managed to get the links to work but I have no option to attach the photo as you describe - I will paste below:

FTTP is not available.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

@Tashaxprince

Try the address version of the Checker.

You are probably on a SOGEA connection. This is fibre to the FTTC cabinet an then the copper wire to your premise.

Brian

Edit : Just saw your latest post. I think you need to phone PN Support as Forum members won't be able to sort this out.

Are you using a mobile device? If so, select the 'desktop' version of the site, and you will then have the option to insert the screenshot.

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

@Tashaxprince

Just had another thought.

Have another look at the Checker. I believe "Fibre" shows up as WBC VDSL (which is FTTC). If you look to the right does it say Available or Waiting List.

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

It says WBC FTTC ‘unavailable’. Further down it says VDSL Multicast ‘available’

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

@Tashaxprince at the top of the availability results does it show something like this

Screenshot 2024-07-10 073812.png

If so, what does it say in the WBC SoGEA availability column ?

Re: Openreach Stop Sell & No Fibre

@Tashaxprince

Now that I remember what the results look like I can comment. It would still be good to see an actual screen image.

WBC FTTC is the old product which could include a landline. Now that OpenReach have introduced the Stop/Sell this is no longer available.

WBC SOGEA in the new internet only product introduced to replace WBC FTTP. If It says Available then that is not the reason for your order problems. Has it said Waiting List then PN couldn't place an order due to no "ports" being available in the Cabinet.
