Re: Ongoing DNS Issues? Timeouts....

Thanks to the lack of substantial information from Plusnet, I'm left wondering if there's any truth in the comments on The Register article saying that Plusnet's DNS servers were compromised or poisoned in some way.
I noticed earlier that some of the IP addresses that the Plusnet DNS servers gave out for certain hostnames did change / seemed to be in flux.
The more worrying thing is that they thought they'd fixed it after the 8:30 - 9:30 outage yesterday, just for things to collapse at the height of the evening peak time.

Re: Ongoing DNS Issues? Timeouts....

Thanks TORPC.
Have followed your telnet session instructions and have updated DNS servers to Open DNS on my Technicolor.
Worked perfectly.  :).

how do i change my router to use OpenDNS? it's the plusnet TG582N.

There's a telnet script available which gives the choice of using opendns or plusnet dns.

Same here, I spent last night checking that it wasn't my devices or router dropping wifi connections (router is quite old, a netgear DG834G). It will work one minute then not the next and hasn't ever really stabilised for more than a few minutes at a time. Either pages refuse to load or load extremely slowly.
Had to reboot the router about 30 mins ago in order to post this and so far it seems to be a bit more stable, fingers crossed...

Re: Ongoing DNS Issues? Timeouts....

Internet connection was failing every 2 or 3 minutes.
Changed to open dns and so far so good.
NormW - I'm using the same router: go open dns.

Re: Ongoing DNS Issues? Timeouts....

Issues still continuing. I can get a few ages then noting but missing pages followed a few minutes later later by access to pages again.
Looking forward to the next update and estimated time for resolution.

Re: Ongoing DNS Issues? Timeouts....

I've gone to OpenDNS as well and the improvement is dramatic. Best connection I've had in a long time.
