Old problem rearing its head again.....

This has been an ongoing issue that have never been satisfactorally resolved, but it stabalises for a while and then comes and goes.  
The issue is noise on the line, and the BB dropping when the phone handset is lifted up, or the line is rang.
Umpteen engineers have been out over the years, and failed to totally resolve the issue. Its likely to be a bad joint on the line, or the bit of aluminium that is a portion of my D side deteriorating. The last openreach engineer suggested waiting for fibre, to rule out E side issues.  
This is an idea, but the fibre date for my cab keeps getting pushed back, now September 2014.  
With the recent thundery weather up north, and torrential rains, its all come back again. Currently I have a 5Mb sync on a 44dB line on ADSL2+, due to the DLM putting up my target margin to 15dB.   Also the usual sight of poor upload syncs when this happens are again apparant.  
I have raised a fault ticket, but wondered if anyone from DCT tomorrow, could look at my line stats and disconnections and comment please.  Its really getting a bit of a pain now.
edit... anyone know how to get the errors out of the Billion Bipac 7300N??  Cant for the life of me find them.

I've tried to take a look at your line but it's showing that your router is powered off. If this is the case, I can't investigate your line stats 😕

Thanks Chris. I did think that the fault checker had it labelled as a phone fault as i was asked no questions about the router setup.

Hi penfold,
Because you mentioned on the fault checker that there was an issue with the phone line it will always investigate that side of it first. To have a good broadband connection you need a clear phone line but it could be that the broadband is causing a problem with the phone line in this case. Once you've been able to connect the router please let us know and we'll test the line in full analyse your stats.

Line check has been done. no apparant faults looking at the ticket, but the are a large number of disconnects particularly Friday., but curiously we had no phone calls on friday. I think we had torrential downpours though. Typically the weather has taken a distinct turn for the better, so more likely there will be no fault found....  A BT engineer has been booked for monday PM.  Is it possible to ask them to remake the D side connections, particularly at the top of the pole, as this is where a corroded connection was previously found.  Do you know if its a POTS or SFI engineer been booked?

Engineer coming this afternoon. Has problems over the weekend with disconnection. Can anyone post up my radius logs for the weekend so I can show the engineer if they are interested.

Thats looks dreadful.  Hope I can persuade the engineer there is a fault with this info.....  it also looks like DLM has recapped my upload in an effort to remain stable....
Will post back with the engineer comments.

Engineer came, well in fact 2 came!!  Both appeared experienced, and not under training.....  They actually could hear the crackling, and remade the joint to the E side pair in the cab.  Came back and it appeared much worse, and after a couple of hours of fiddling up the pole, changed the D side pair for another one. These engineers said they preferred to try and fix D sides rather than just swap the pairs, as eventually they run out of pairs.  The said they couldn't locate the fault on my D side, even though they could hear one. She mentioned that it sounded like it was wet, and maybe the whole pair was wet all the way through, as the joint seemed OK.  Anyhow it all seems OK now fingers crossed as I have been here before.  i must say I was very impressed with the engineers, seemed very knowledgable, and had no issues explaining what they where doing if asked....
It just needs an SNR reset now, to fetch the margin back from 15dB, but I thought it may be best to wait a couple of days to see how things stabalise?

I think leaving the connection for a few days is a good idea, given the work that's been carried out on the line.
The SNR should naturally drop, it's probably a little high at the moment, purely because of the SNR Target, but that will drop once DLM gets time to take a good look at how the line is performing.

Been away for a few days. Got a text from the faults team indicating that they want to send out a further sfi engineer. I am a little confused as the line seems resonably stable. Only had a couple of drops it seems, but the router logs are not helpful as it appears the router has had some cold restarts for whatever reason. I can't see the error stats on this router, can anyone help. Its a billion 7300n. Can get the adsl status, with noise margins etc but no crc errors etc.
