O2 modem with Plusnet?

I have an O2 Broadband modem that I would love to use for my neighbour's PN account. But it appears that the box is locked and I cannot change the Username and Password to connect to PN.
Does anyone know how to unlock this box please?

It's almost impossible now:
1) to unlock the router requires using a soldering iron.
2) the web site ( http://forums.modem-help.co.uk ) with the instructions and firmware files required to unlock it has closed down. 
3) the price of these thing on ebay make it not worth the effort.
