Cheers, Chris. I'm just about to leave for work, but there's already a slow-down this evening:

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Thanks for that, I've reported this back on the escalation, could you run some of your speed tests via http://speedtest.btwholesale.com too if possible.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Here's one of the good ones, to be getting on with...
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
13.94 Mbps

0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 13.94 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 14.9 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.94 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.94Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
I'll try and get one before I leave for work tonight. Off to beddy byes now...  Smiley

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Right. Fault ticket has been updated to show that the aerial cable has been replaced and "You should now be seeing throughput of around 12 to 13mbps", the faults agent has also put through another SNR reset so I'm back on 6dB. On past form, that should only last a few days so I'm not too bothered about that.
Still slowing down though - both of these taken around 6:15pm on Thursday 23/5/13 (one after the other, not simultaneously):

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
9.17 Mbps

0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 9.17 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 13 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.91 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.91Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
IP profile is not matched by current line speed, which is showing as 14.8Mb in my account page.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

I'll have a chat with Chris about this particular fault tomorrow as I think we need to get the Line Card looked at as well as a Lift and Shift potentially.
If Capacity Management thinks everything is okay, that's fine, we'll just have to look at the alternatives we can go for to get this resolved for you Smiley

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Thanks for the input, Chris, but I don't think this issue is unique to me. I have spoken to several people, both Plusnet and non-Plusnet users, who have noted a marked evening slowdown at the same exchange (NSIMD). They are also enjoying full speeds (for their lines) outwith the hours of about 6pm-midnight. I can't think of anything other than congestion that would cause this, but I'm happy to be re-educated...

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

This has been escalated further within our suppliers team and I've provided them with your results.
Chris Pettitt has been helping on pushing this too, we're now waiting on an update which isn't going to be until after the weekend.
If you're able to run any further speed tests they would help and be appreciated.

@Jaggies
Ok, no problem, if that's the case, we need to get the Line Card looked at. As Chris Purvey has mentioned, we've got this escalation pushed through our suppliers and we're going to continue pressing until we get this resolved for you.

Thanks Chris & Chris...
I won't be able to carry out extensive testing until Wednesday when I finish my present stint on night shift, but I'll let you know if anything changes.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Right - back on testing duty...  Smiley
Taken a few minutes ago:

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
8.5 Mbps

0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 8.5 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 13.23 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.92 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.92Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
So, a definite improvement over the last few weeks' results, but still a significant slow-down at peak time.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

It appears as though someone has unblocked things:

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
12.69 Mbps

0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 12.69 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 13.29 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.95 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.95Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
I re-synched this afternoon to see if the SNR margin would go back to my previous 3dB, but from the router's figures, "Bandwidth: 1115 / 15064" I'm probably still on 6dB as at 3dB it connects at pretty close to 17000 downstream. I'll leave it the way it is for now and see if the 3dB margin reverts by itself, but for now the speeds appear to be fine. I'll test again later...

The work on my line has been completed but I still get the inevitable evening slow-downs as documented up-thread.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Hi,
The last update we received was on Friday, we'd been advised prior to this that you issue should have been resolved and it obviously wasn't so we pushed this back.
The last update was "Action taken: Hi Team, we have still not got any update from the capacity management team. We will review this again on Monday and update you"
Next update date and time: 03/06/2013 14:00 hrs
I haven't received an update today and am currently chasing this.
