Not again

Back in May, after a spell of south easterly winds and rain my broadband started playing up with a resync of a slow speed which then resulted in the SNR climbing and slow sync speeds which eventually managed to get sorted despite support saying it was tough luck that the line could no longer support the speeds it had for the previous 5 or so years.
Roll onto this morning and after a day of south easterly winds and heavy-ish rains again the sync speed once again has gone south and SNR heading north after a resync through the early hours (possibly 2 or 3 as my data suggests one between 5-am and 6 am and another after 6 am).
The last time it was like pulling teeth getting this sorted, eventually being passed onto BT who came and could see nothing wrong with my wiring in the house and concluded it had to be a card at the exchange.  Given this is now the 3rd time this exact same weather pattern has given the same issue (which the last time I was told was a coincidence only by support on the telephone) is it actually worth trying to get it fixed again?

Re: Not again

Are you connected via overhead or underground cables?

Re: Not again

Underground direct to the exchange, and I know where the problem is more than likely - the box in the ground at the foot of the hill.  BT was at the one further along from it last week pumping it out as it was full of water again.

Re: Not again

A local BT engineer told me recently, that most of the inspection chambers round here fill up when it rains -they have cables propped up on a mixture of bricks, breezeblocks and old bits of wood!!!

Re: Not again

More disconnections over the weekend  Angry SNR seems to be all over the place so looks like the painful process of raising a fault is going to be required as it looks like there are some errors racking up to which they will likely want to enable interleaving again.
XBL gaming was impossible at the weekend with constantly being thrown out, and voice comms was absolutely useless with it being totally broken up.

Re: Not again

Hi Bud,
I've posted a graph or your recent connectivity:
<img src="http://community.plus.net/visualradius/generated/image1381150593181.png"/>
Can you run through our faults wizard and complete the questions, if there's no improvement then we can look further into this?

Re: Not again

Ran through the fault checker.
In my testing with another router in the test socket I noticed as last time the sync speed is worse in the test socket (with a totally different filter).

Re: Not again

Strange that it's worse in the test socket. Let's see what our faults team find.

Re: Not again

I find it totally strange as it goes against the norm when its worse in the test socket, but it was the same with the last fault, and 2 different routers.  Since putting everything back in place last night I have noticed no errors racking up on the line, but the sync speed remains slightly slower than it really should which only got sorted when a total reset was put on the line the last time.

Re: Not again

It would be more beneficial for us while diagnosing this if you could remain in the test socket.

When you use the test socket is the router sited near anything else electrical?

Re: Not again

I will see what I can do with getting it left in the test socket, but its not very practical and it all depends on if I can find a way of getting the phone connected there as well for a disabled family member in the household with out leaving an extension lead lying around as there isn't a mains socket that close to the master socket without leaving cables going across the main door of the house

Re: Not again

I am a little puzzled as to what is going on, as I haven't had an email response to the fault I looked at the ticket online which was flagged as answered by support to which they say they have applied interleaving (which the order has failed thankfully) and to get back if it doesn't help.
Haven't managed to get a setup with the test socket that I can leave unattended yet.

Re: Not again

Just done a reboot as the SNR had gone up again and the errors had started to show.  Back to an SNR of 12 and no errors showing, but the line refuses to sync back at 8128.  I would expect better of a line that's so close to the exchange.
Here are the current stats from the router.

Re: Not again

Your line still appears to be erroring, I'm going to pass your ticket back to our faults team to look into.
