Re: No more room at local exchange

Just had this txt from plusnet:
"Please be advised that an engineer has been booked to visit the site to clear the Ivy from the distribution point.
This is scheduled for 25/12/2013."
Christmas day!? Is this right?

Must have something to do with Job Seekers Allowance or the elves' immigration status as they will unemployed by then. BTOR must be employing them quite cheaply. Grin
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

One more thing  Cheesy
Just had an email from Plusnet, apparently there is an engineer booked to come out on the 16/01/14. I'm not quite sure what this is for now that all of the external work has been completed?
Merry Christmas Cool
Also, it seems like my speed is still capped at 4 mb, I was informed this new address could get better than that considering the cabinet is more or less on my door step  Wink

cabinet can be in your garden, it's all about the distance from the cabinet to the exchange!  Cool

Re: No more room at local exchange

Ah, but when I phoned the estimated speed for my linewas 12 mb, I understand that's an estimate but at the minute my speed is around 3.7mb,it has never achieved higher than that. And I also have the engineer visiting in January for some reason unknown to me. .

Re: No more room at local exchange

With a line attenuation like that I'd expect far higher speeds.
Maybe plug it into the test socket (via a filter) and leave it for a couple of days to see if the sync speed improved. This will rule out any internal dodgy wiring etc.
*Edit - I can see your sync speed is around 15Mb/s which is pretty good. Are you testing with a CAT5 cable between your PC and router or wirelessly ?
What speed test are you using to get your 3.7Mb result ?

Re: No more room at local exchange

Hi there
Looks like the profile from our end hadn't updated since your move.
I've just given that a push and your speeds should be better in the next 15 minutes.
You might need to disconnect then reconnect your connection in the router as well
With regards to the appointment for the 16th this shouldn't be needed as your services are now live and working
The orders are still showing as in progress so I'll pass this to our Provisioning team to look into
