Sorry to resurrect this one but James’s last post suggested that if the line is stable that the SNR would reduce to its previous figure of around 6db with a corresponding increase in connection speed from the current 5.4 (ish) mb to (again) the previous figure of about 6.5mb. I have a very stable connection, broken only by an occasional reboot of the router by me, for close to 2 months, well over this 28 day threshold. As you can see by comparing my router stats for today (below) with my previous posts, there has been no reduction in SNR and no increase in speeds; are these changes made automatically or do I need intervention from Plusnet?

Have you checked in your routers detailed stats to see how many errors are being logged?

I presume that high levels of errors are a consideration with my enquiry, and obviously I’ll investigate and report back, but I would also like a response from +net staff when they have a minute

Next time you reconnect could you look to see what the downstream noise margin is?

I re-booted the router every day, first thing, on going on to ADSL+2 for a period of about 3 weeks or so. The figures only had a small variation to them 4 to 4.7 mb downstream, always 439 kbps upstream with downstream SNR always 12db. TBH as this daily routine of re-booting the router had no effect I reverted back to my normal practise of leaving the router connected 24/7

Could you explain this then please:

If you are getting odd disconnections not initiated by you that will be why the target isn't getting set lower.

Am I right in thinking that a solid connection like mine (see post below), and one that used to give me actual browsing speed of 5 to 5.5 mb, should return to it’s previous speeds or even increase as I’m now on ADSL2+?

I haven’t had a drop in connection since whatever happened in the thread below. So, Plusnet staff, in the absence of ‘The Legend’ what can you do to help?

I think my request for advice from Plusnet staff has slipped through the net. Would someone please review this thread from reply 15 onwards and advise accordingly
