No Internet connection...

My Thompson wireless router tells me I do not  have an internet connection
I have checked all the wiring and it is ok...I tried an older router and I have a internet
with that so I assume the fault is with the router ?...What do I do ?

Re: No Internet connection...

Something hit the fan this morning, power off for 30mins to force your exchange to see its not connected.

Re: No Internet connection...

Have you tried resetting the wireless router to the default settings?
You also do not mention which Tompson wireless router you have?

Yes, and the router just says Thompson Gateway.. tried it again and it is still not
seeing the internet. Will check all the wiring tomorrow and start from scratch..
If I cannot resolve it I will get another router..

Re: No Internet connection...

You could try re-flashing the firmware to the Thompson, There is a guide for the Plusnet supplied TG585v7 and TG585v8 here
Plusnet now provide the Technicolor TG582n Wireless router!
The TG582n is in my opinion a worthy replacement for the older TG585 routers and if you contact Plusnet via 0800 432 0200 they will supply one on a 12 month deferred contract + £4.99 for postage, alternativley You can purchase the TG582n from Plusnet for £40 + £4.99 postage.
I have been using the TG582n for over two weeks now and it has increased my downstream speed by almost 1 Mbps! it has WiFi N and can be set up with a USB HDD (formated in FAT32) as a file server, DLNA media server, FTP server and it can also be configured as a USB print server too!
If your Thompson wireless router was supplied by Plusnet and is under 12 months old then you should be able to get it replaced for the TG582n free of charge under the 12 month Warrenty.
