Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

You'll see if and when the switch to 21CN / WBC happens, by the vendor in the ADSL stats changing to something that's not Alcatel.

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

FYI the 21CN order has now completed.

What is the target SNRM on this line please?  Is it 9dB?  Will it work (with stability) at 6dB?  That might give another 200kbps, not much but a little bit of help.

Target SNR is indeed at 9db, sync is now at 1899. I wouldn't want to make any further changes until the phone issue (see below) is sorted.

I can see we've raised the phone fault to Openreach as if it's intermittent and losing service/noisy then that's really not going to be helping the broadband.

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

The stats are interesting because I didn't know BT were now installing Broadcom based equipment in exchanges, all previous 21CN exchanges had TSTC or IFTN equipment. It's operating on ADSL2+, but since it's probably getting as good a speed as could be expected for the attenuation and target SNR margin, there's probably nothing to be gained by changing the mode. We just need to see how stable it is, and wait for your Plusnet current line speed to update.

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

The slight differences in bandwidth might be because the DLM has decided to switch interleaving off (shown by the zero FEC Errors). At least it's making positive changes. The only trouble is that the DLM is not concerned about whether interleaving on or off gives you more bandwidth, it is only concerned about whether the line is stable enough (number of error seconds and uptime) to operate with interleaving off.
So what happened regarding the phone fault? All updates would be via Plusnet, Openreach don't contact end users directly (apart from the engineer phoning before they arrive).

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

I have posted my Tec hnicolor readings and B T Test results and hope this will last and presume I am  on ADSL 2 .  THE NICE PEOPLE  have been a great help and as my fault was first  raised on 25 August I am pleased  Yesterday An  Openreach man spent most of the day checking the line to Burrowbridge and the day before one came to the house and had a good look .
It would seem we now have a good result  I hope it stays this way, but we have nearly been here before Thanks to all for the help We will see if this lasts
