Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

Sounds like a firmware bug, it sounds like some bugs can be avoided by using the static route hack to block / disable "Enhanced Services": http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/161.htm

Dear Mr Parsons,
Thank you for getting in touch.
I have reviewed you fault and I am please to say that your phone line is now testing clear and your line is stable.
I have adjusted the speed settings on our system so you should see your speed improve.
I have also noticed that a connection upgrade is available to you.
Currently you are connecting on the ADSL 1 network, I have placed an order to move you across to the ADSL2+ network.
This should complete in 7 days time.
You should hopefully see a slight improvement in your line speeds once the transfer completes.
Please note it can take a further 72 hours or so for the changes to reflect on the system once the order completes.
There is no extra charge for being on the ADSL2+ network this is simply a change on the exchange end that should improve the connection slightly.
Please do not hesitate to get back in touch online at http://contactus.plus.net or by phone on 0800 432 0200 if we can be of further assistance.
If you are happy the fault has been resolved, there is no need to reply as the ticket will close automatically after 14 days. This reduces our ticket volumes and lowers our overall response time.

Fast enough in what way?  Looking at the attenuation on your line 68.5dB it is off the scale for any effective ADSL service.
I note that PlusNet report the line to be testing as "clear", is that your experience?  Can you confirm that there is a clear dial tone and no noise?
@CRT,
What is the target SNRM on this line please?  Is it 9dB?  Will it work (with stability) at 6dB?  That might give another 200kbps, not much but a little bit of help.

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

I would like it to be fast enough to use skype and i player and previously when it has been a little better , it has done so, it worked well around Christmas and in June when my family were here it has been better than this.I would like to see pictures on whats ap quickly  When the fault was raised I had a noisy phone and a very slow speed  The phone is clear now as clear as usual, or as has been in the past  and ths connection with the BT router OK  The Technicolor not as good  but not  my speed I have no idea about the " attenuation on your line 68.5dB it is off the scale for any effective ADSL service." But I have had in the past an acceptable service at just over 1 As far as I know no one has been here to check my line ,long line Thanks for your reply No good telling me Im a lost cause , I know it has been better

Re: Nice people but not a lot of help

No, you are not a lost cause!  Grin
You are however on the edge of technical viability... a reduction in SNRM (if the line will remain stable) might give you just enough to make the difference you want.  It is though right on the limits for ADSL technology - I am not going to encourage unfulfilable expectations!
