New to Plusnet Not doing me proud.

Hi
New to Plusnet 2 days ago.
Problem one.  Wifi not as strong as my BT HUB
Problem 2.  Cant connect to certain websites.  Can get on FB  but not Bejewelled blitz.  Candy Crush loads  but actual game will not.  Boden will not load or topcashback but Wiki will.  the little circle goes round and round.  Have tried channel 1 6 and 11. 11 seems  slightly better  but still cant get on alot of sites.  If you want screen prints  you will have to tell me  how.
Help much appreciated  its raining  and internet required  otherwise we  will all go cold turkey. Not pretty.
Thanks

Re: New to Plusnet Not doing me proud.

Do sites load if you use a wired connection?

MTU test :
Let me Test it

29
Online MTU test allows you to test the maximum MTU size from our host to your destination. To check your MTU, simply provide your IP or DNS hostname. We will test the PMTU (Path Maximum Transfer Unit) aka maximum MTU size (unfragmented) between our host and your destination, most likely the outside of your router or firewall.
More info: Wikipedia
This online MTU test is in BETA. Please let us know, using our contact form, if you find any irregularities.

Sending 32 bytes to 46.208.65.64  <-  NO REPLY!
We are unable to test this host or IP.
Most likely ICMP traffic to that host or IP is not allowed or the host or IP is invalid.s

I very much doubt it's a MTU issues, but you can test it here:

Re: New to Plusnet Not doing me proud.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030801010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65536
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 8 bits (scale factor: 2^8=256)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 256
In Windows 8.1, unless "TCP/IP Auto-Tuning" is disabled, only the Current TCP Window is displayed. Use the latest TCP Optimizer for tweaking.
You seem to be using Google Chrome. Note that Chrome can modify the TCP Window for sockets it creates under some OSes, and therefore servers may not get your correct RWIN value. You may want to test with a different browser. FAQ
RWIN is not fully optimized. The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
64240  (up to 2 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 44)
128480 (1-5 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 44 * 2)
256960 (2-14 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 44 * 2^2)
513920 (8-30 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 44 * 2^3)
1027840 (25-60 Mbit lines depending on latency. MSS * 44 * 2^4)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):
Your TCP Window limits you to: 2621 kbps (328 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1049 kbps (131 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 115 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 10000000 (128)
Precedence (priority) = 100 (flash override)
Delay = 0 (normal delay)
Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)
Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DSCP (DiffServ) = CS4 100000 (32) - class 4 (RFC 2474). Similar forwarding behavior to the ToS Precedence field.

This would have been sufficient.  Roll_eyes

Which modem router do you have?
You could try entering google DNS settings in to your PC's network settings.
eg
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
Shout up if you don't know how.

I'm not sure how accurate that speedguide.net analyzer is, but this sounds similar to this thread.
