New master socket now BB speed crashed

I have had a new master socket fitted to cure a phone line probelm, since then my broadband speed has fallen through the floor. Download speed 0.18 upload 0.3 and ping latencey 45.00 (bt speed tester) before the line problem I was getting 2.5- 3 meg!!!!
I have changed micorfilter, it's pluged into test socket, I have even changed the router and still get the same results.
Plusnet are trying to cure the problem, but it seems to take forever this has been ongoing since Thursday 28th June!!!!
Has anyone had the same problems, and if so how did they fix it???

As a start please post your router stats when plugged into the test socket
Speeds, attenuation and noise margin

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

As Plusnet say something is horribly wrong.
Were those results from the test socket and can you post the current stats from the router using the test socket

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

Those are the latest only done yesterday from test socket, by Plusnet I wonder when they will consider it bad enough to actually do something!!!

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

Have you confirmed that you have carried all the checks as requested in that ticket.
If you have it will be reported to BT as a line fault and acted on
I appreciate that those results are from the test socket but are you still using it and, if so, can you advise what the router is currently reporting

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

All you can do is wait for the BT Openreach to act.
One thing you could just try is to check the tightness of  the screw connectors where the incoming wire is connected to the back plate

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

I have checked the BT wiring and it is the "push in type"  on the rear of the master socket, both wires are secure. I connected our extension (one socket downstairs) and although the phone contined to opperate the broadband would not connect. I wonder how long openrach will take this time it has been ongoing for over a week!!!!!!!

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

From the Plusnet test results you've posted, it's obvious that the exchange DLM has you banded as a result of your line problems.
Did you make Plusnet aware that you'd had a phone fault which I presume is now fixed? If so, it's ridiculous that the line has not been un-banded.
IF the phone line fault is fixed - add to the ticket details about the fact that you had a phone fault which has been fixed and request the line is un-banded. Then phone up Plusnet and point then at the ticket and request they do so asap. Make sure you speak to a supervisor otherwise it could be going round in circles if an in-experienced CSC agent is busy on his script led rhubarb.

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

I don't agree
The downstream noise margin is 6.6dB and if it was banded I would have expected that it would be much higher

That means it's banded. Perhaps the phone line fault is still not fixed properly and that's why the margin is still around 6dB, but it's definitely banded.
Edit: I've edited my previous post to qualify the ticket addition - IF the phone line fault is fixed

Re: New master socket now BB speed crashed

Hi pa38,
I see the faults team have reset the line. There's no banding at the moment but the sync rate is still very low. I'll see if I can get someone to take a look.
