Re: New fibre speed

Good news. Our suppliers have identified the cause of the problem. It's because traffic that should be distributed is going over a single route on their core network. I've no ETA at present as to when this will be fixed but progress is being made.
Bad news. I've made sure I'm connecting via Faraday again and I'm already seeing speeds start to take a nosedive (that's on an 80Mbps circuit).

Re: New fibre speed

Latest update as follows. Incidentally my speeds have sky-rocketed.
[quote author="BT Wholesale"]Bandwidth has been increased in the core network. The incident will be left open through the peak period tonight and the traffic levels will be checked before it is closed. We are now monitoring for stability.
I've updated Service Status and we'll keep an eye on things throughout the duration of the evening ...

Re: New fibre speed

Update from Wholesale around 9.30pm last night suggests that they're now satisfied the problem is resolved:
[quote author="BT Wholesale"]As a part of the process for providing early warning of possible Broadband network incidents, BT would like to advise that the Broadband issue in the following geographical area(s) has been resolved.
Geographical area : Faraday
My latency graphing certainly agrees with this and there were far fewer customers reporting speed problems last night.
I've closed the Service Status thread and the problem we had open.

Re: New fibre speed

Hi there,
That's most likely to do with the current network issues. Unfortunately if some of the network is down, everyone's connection will be squashed onto the rest of it that is working, which unfortunately may lead to slowdowns for some people.
We'll keep the issue updated at http://status.plus.net.
