New fibre router - rebooting to restore wifi

I expect this has been discussed ad infinitum but it's new to me. After many years fibre arrived in our village a few months ago, and so did the new Plusnet router. It sits in a room all by itself, plugged into the BT modem which connects to the BT master socket. It syncs at 64Mbps and I pay for up to 38Mbps or so.
No real problem with the wired connection, but every few days the wifi gets confused, with authentication problem or general inactivity. Turning off the router and on again after a few seconds restores the wifi, but why should I have to do this so frequently?
Plusnet sent me  new router which does not help if the one they supplied has firmware issues or is otherwise cheap and inadequate?
Is there anything to be done, except buy a new router (D-Link C7 Archer for example)?
