Re: New fibre install

Hi bart6622,
Glad to hear you're up and running with the fibre!
Just looking at the details on your account, it seems that the speed was updated on our side recently so could you check that you're getting the correct speed now?
Also, please be sure to test this while wired into the router as you may see a slower speed when testing via a wireless connection.

Thanks!

Re: New fibre install

The speed seems to be very unstable last night between 1800-1845hrs it was below 1mbps then it went up to 30-34, this morning it is at 7-9mbps surely this can't be right?

Re: New fibre install

Could it be the router?
I have noticed that the wifi signal drops down a bar every now and then and I am 10 metres away from the router.

Re: New fibre install

Speed Test at 1238hrs
Ethernet
Ping-10ms
Download-66.73mbpd
Upload-17.61mps
Speed Test at 1243hrs
Wireless
Ping-27ms
Download-14.38mbps
Upload-15.08mbps
Both tests were carried out using the same speed checking service, do I need to upgrade my router as 99% of the devices we use are wireless?

Re: New fibre install

It's probably worth changing the Wireless Channel as shown here: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/technicolor-582n-wireless.shtml
I'd advise using either channels 1,6 or 12.

Re: New fibre install

Thanks for the reply
I was on channel 6 anyway but here are the results:
Channel 1
Ping-115ms
Download-12.74mbps
Upload-10.16mbps
Channel 12
Ping-21ms
Download-29.37mbps
Upload-18.12mbps
And then back to channel 6
Ping-19ms
Download-27.31mbps
Upload-17.46mbps
I have noticed that the wifi strength signal keeps dropping down a notch but the router is probably less than 10 metres away

Re: New fibre install

Would you be able to get hold of another router to test with?
Do you get similar results on other Wireless Devices?

Re: New fibre install

Not unless I went out and purchased a new router.
Wireless speeds are the same throughout.
Thanks

Re: New fibre install

I've sent out a replacement to see if it's any better. Your Wireless shouldn't be that bad from just 10 metres away.
Let me know how you get on.
