That disconnection today was me running a line test. I'd like to monitor a little longer before we do anything further.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Even though Tony might "pop-in" to have a look, they don't work Sundays (and on a rota on Saturdays). I would guess he'll want to look at this for several days, so I wouldn't expect anything until later in the week and he'll no doubt carry out some further line tests first.
Unless your sync speed changes (ie. there's a disconnect or test or reboot) your profile won't change.
It's very simple to check yourself by running the BTw Performance test (DON'T REBOOT, ignore the red preamble except make sure no other programs are using the Internet) and at the end of the first run, click the Further Diagnostics button, enter just your Phone number and Run the Further Diagnostics Test.
The results should give you the IP Profile.
You can also check that your Current Line speed (Login required) matches (it's rounded down to the nearest 100kbps).
If for some reason the Diagnostic part of the BTw Speedtest fails (post that fact here), check the sync speed from the 2704n stats (called data rate iirc) - the profile on a 21CN connection is 88.2% of that figure.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Don't forget that on the last test the Rectified Loop Fault disappeared. It can sometimes be difficult to pin down intermittent faults and whilst I've made suggestions of some obvious things to do, if no fault is showing after a few repeated tests. it may be difficult to convince anyone to take some action. The fault may not even be in any of the areas suggested, as mentioned, it's trying a process of elimination
The final decision will be Tony's, he may elect to leave it until the fault shows again as then there might be a better chance of finding it.
If the fault reappears and remains, then there wouldn't be an issue, an engineer would find it and make the repair.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Doesn't look like it as, nothing is showing up at present.
If you use the red 2704n link in my sig, enter the password at the login screen, you'll see your stats. You could copy and paste them in a post.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Yesterday I plugged in my new router that I bought which is suppose to be better than the ISP provided routers. It is the TP-Link TD-W9980 with the latest firmware. Spent £80 on it. How do I get the stats off that router?

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Basic DSL stats are displayed on the status page you see immediately after logging into the router, or by clicking "Status" at the top of the menu on the left side of the router web interface. Obtaining more detailed DSL stats is not easy. As for being better or worse, the TP-Link TD-W9980 has more capabilities such as VDSL2 (it could be used on FTTC without a separate modem), 5GHz wireless, gigabit Ethernet - none of which are particularly necessary for use on ADSL. TP-Link is a low-cost brand, so the general build quality of the firmware may not be particularly high.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Well I bought it cause its backed up by good reviews. So surely it must be better than the ISP supplied router and £80 isnt cheap for a low cost brand.

Re: New customer having issues please advise

It's the top of TP-Link's VDSL/ADSL range, it's their only VDSL2 model. The same hardware, but with different firmware to disable the VDSL2 capability, is sold as the TD-W8980. A fair bit seems to get added onto the price for the VDSL2 and 5GHz capabilities - the TD-W8970v1, based on the same chipset, again with the VDSL disabled in the firmware, but without 5GHz, was about £30-40.
Were you still experiencing the same issue you had in the first post of this thread?

Re: New customer having issues please advise

Well my upload speed is still slow under 1meg. I did had a disconnection last night for a min. I can live with 1 minor disconnection per day when im in bed not using the internet however I still prefer zero disconnections throughout my contract. Haven't tried online gaming yet so I keep you guys updated whether it lags or not.
The intermittent slow internet seems to have gone.
