New customer from Talktalk.. Impressed so far!

Hi all,
I've recently moved over to plusnet from talktalk a couple of days ago as I was an unfortunate victim of their 'stuck order slow death' problem.
So far everything has gone swimmingly. Phone and BB got switched over on schedule and the line seems to be holding up great with the 'free' modem etc.
I've just asked for my upload to be uncapped and the downstream seems fine ATM.
The one question I do have is.... I notice that the max my line can take is rated as approx 7Mbit. I was under the impression that as I was on ADSL2+ I would be elligible for the 'up to 20Mbit' thing....
Is this not the case? Do I need to wait to be upgraded as part of the 'free' upgrade that is currently going on? or am I not on a line that will accept this 'free' upgrade?
cheers

Welcome on board.
The estimated speed is supposedly taken from the BTw database and is notoriously flakey.
One way to check is to put your attenuation in here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php.
It can be found on this link http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?ce=1&be=0&l0=1&l1=0 if you aren't sure where it is in your new router

Hi wrightgj,
You are on the 'up to 20Mbps' service. This, however is dependent on the length of the line to your exchange. The attenuation (which intimates your line length) is 43.1dB so your current profile of 6500k is spot on for your line length.

Oh, ok thanks.
I thought the bandwidth would still be higher, but my connection less due to distance, but it sounds like the line length is taken into account in the bandwidth stat then?
I guess the only way to increase the DL is by switcing to Fibre (or move nearer the exchange!). Unfortunately the price is still a bit prohibitive to me, so I'll stick with 6500K which is just about enough for now.
