If the switch of FTTC from BT to PlusNET causes a DLM reset (CRT can you advise please) then the line will run with an open profile for 48 hours (not the widely believed 10+ days) after which a profile will be established for the line. That profile will be passed on to PlusNET to establish the DATA speed for the line, which can be found here - https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
This speed should be the same as that reported above - 60Mbps. You might need to drop the PPP session on the router to get the full speed.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

Townman I've used that link and see the following:
Estimated line speed:
43Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2014-08-29 22:37:47
Current line speed:
78 Mb
The estimated speed is inline with the speedtest I'm getting, but surely it should be more if my current speed/sync speed is 78Mb!!!
Time to do something or just wait another 24-48 hours to see what happens?
My uptime is showing: 0 days, 15:32:47 which takes the time back to the exact time I first connected the router, so no dropouts.
Thanks

I also note that the BT speed test was taken at a quieter time than the ones you've done with Plusnet.

And Plusnet done now at 10.33 on a Tuesday morning isn't what i'd expect to be peak time!

If you run the BT Speed Test http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and click on Further Diagnostics, what's your IP Profile?

When your line is setup for the first time, it syncs at its fastest possible speed. But sometimes it will be unstable, so DLM will adjust it to provide stability.
