New connection and slow speeds!

Hi please could someone help me?
I've received broadband on my line today and my internet speed is reported as:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1108 kbps

Now before I came across to plusnet my broadband speed with my previous provider never dropped below 6000 kbps , so something seems to have gone wrong somewhere.
Please could someone explain what is going on.
Kindest Regards,
Mathew Rennie.

Re: New connection and slow speeds!

At a guess with your previous provider you were on LLU and hence the training period starts again which means that you will have the IPrate of 2,000kbps for about 3 to 5 days then it will jump up

Re: New connection and slow speeds!

Oldjim's response is on the money. The profile shows on BTs systems as 2272kbps which will give you a 2mb profile but as stated this will uplift - you're in sync at a very good speed and should get a 7150 profile when it updates.
Best thing to do would be to reboot the router once a day, that helps the exchange kit gather the data it needs for your line. Don't do it more often than that though, otherwise the line will think you have an intermittent fault and drop the profile to compensate.
Please let us know if nothing changes in the near future and we'll see what we can do.
