A new Thomson router has just arrived to replace the D-Link which went down on Tuesday. My computer does not have Wireless card, so I am connected via Ethernet cable. But the Wireless light is also on. The D-Link had the facility to "hide" the wireless or disable it. Can I do that on the Thomson and how?
Thanks,
Alex
Thanks,
Alex

I thought the light colours meant this:
Red - wireless on - unprotected
Orange - wireless on - WEP security
Green - Wireless on - WPA security
If you log in to the router control panel (browse to 192.168.1.254) and use the username and password provided on the sticker we sent with the router, there is an option in the wireless setup screen to turn it off.

I stand corrected
Status Lights
The top of the ADSL modem has five LED status lights:
Power
*Green Solid on Power on, normal operation
*Red Solid on Power on, self-test failed, indicating device malfunction
*Amber Blinking Bootloader active (during upgrade)
*Off Power off
Ethernet
*Green Blinking Ethernet activity
* Solid on Ethernet connection, no activity
*Off No Ethernet connection
Wireless
*Green Blinking Wireless activity, WPA(2) encryption
Solid on No wireless activity, WPA(2) encryption
*Amber Blinking Wireless activity, WEP encryption
Solid on No wireless activity, WEP encryption
*Red Blinking Wireless activity, no security
Solid on No wireless activity, no security
*Red/green Toggling Wireless client registration phase
*Off WLAN disabled
Broadband
*Green Blinking Pending DSL line synchronisation
Solid on DSL line synchronised
*Off No DSL line
Internet
*Green Blinking Internet activity
Solid on Internet connectivity, no activity
*Red Solid on Internet connection setup failed
*Off No Internet connection
So my understanding would be the wireless cannot be turned off, just secured?

Wireless can be turned off by logging into the router's control panel (as described by Chris) and navigating to the Home Network -> Interfaces -> WLAN - Configure page. Then remove the tick from the router's 'Enable Interface' check box and click the 'Apply' button.

Sorry, I was getting a screenshot. If you follow the navigation that spraxyt has given, you should get to the screen I've attached a picture of. Just untick the box next to 'Interface Enabled'.

Thank you for the advice. Wireless is now disabled. I have just bought on eBay a manufacturer refurbished Belkin router with lifetime guarantee for £9.97, so there will be no panic when Thomson breaks down.
Thanks again.

Thank you. Mine does that too, but I did not know that it was necessary to hold it for 5 secs.
