New Customer First day... speed issues.

Hi,
Should I expect slow speeds while line training is in play? yesterday afternoon my service was activated and had a few drops no issues as I understand this is normal.
Speed was as per my previous provider so nothing to complain about during the afternoon, but come 6PM - 1AM the speeds were extremely slow and completely shocking, as I am on a business grade package with no restrictions I would expect things to be a little better than this again everything was perfect with my previous provider and the same ratio is offered by Plusnet.
all traffic was HTTP based but was very slow, just out of curiosity I did a speed test and discovered the following;
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.38 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 12.61 Mbps
Normally download speed would of been around 12mbps but even for HTTP traffic is was taking roughly 40 seconds to load a web site, I went on with the BT Wholesale tests and claimed no issues, also checked Plusnet support and they claimed no problems at my exchange etc.
Everything again appears ok at this moment in time getting 12.54Mbps on the speed test, I can confirm there was no other traffic locally nor any issues with my hardware.
Hopefully it is something silly and not a peak time issue otherwise there was no point in me signing up to a business package.
Since changing providers, nothing has changed hardware wise or even been touched, only change of username and password in the router.
Thanks in advance.

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed say for your current line speed? It should match the IP Profile reported by the BT speed test. If it goes slow again check that is still correct.

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

Seems ok so far maybe just a one off whilst the line is training, also just done a speed check to see;

Download speed achieved during the test was - 12.39 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 12 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.93Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
I will monitor it and see. thank you for the support Smiley

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

Sadly we appear to have rubbish speeds again for the past 3 hours roughly now.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.07 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 12 Mbps

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

Which exchange are you on?
Do you know when you had the resync at the slower speed? (We can tell that has happened because the IP Profile is 88.2% of your sync speed so you are currently synced at around 13600)
What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed say now?

Northallerton - not sure what the code is.  Embarrassed
I can't say exactly when it resynched at the lower speed but the information from the portal showed this; - just realised  it is exactly the same information/date stamp as my previous posting of this information.

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

Well your exchange is not on the Plusnet list of current issues: http://community.plus.net/exchange-information/
Nor is it on the BT list of sites with capacity issues (accessed from https://www.btwholesale.com/pages/static/Library/Network_Information/21CN_Broadband_Availibility/ind...
Is the router you are using one supported by RouterStats? If it is that would be helpful in tracking down the disconnects/resyncs.

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

Hi kg648, jelv's requested a graph of your connections to us over the past few days so here it is - looking fairly stable to be honest.

Re: New Customer First day... speed issues.

That's looking like there are quick resyncs that don't drop the PPP session (there's no drop showing to correspond with the change of IP Profile during yesterday).
@kg648 Can you get the full stats from your router. If you are using the Plusnet supplied router this link will give them: http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?be=0&l0=2&l1=0 They should look something like this:

I am using my Draytek 2820, I will have a look to see if there are any similar stats as soon as I get home.
