Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

People testing the new Community site should go and try making a post on the forums over there - they might find something missing that makes it a bit difficult!
A clue to where it's hiding.
Edit: Added screen dump

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

It really is very, very funny. You know, I suspect it is just possible that it could have gone live with it in that state. Can you imagine what would have happened? Not many would of figured out how to get round the problem.
At least James, Mand, Bob etc would have had a quiet day!

I doubt it would have, after all, we had you guys to spot it for us. Wink
It's a bug from an edit done on Friday.  Jonny is aware.

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

I see that we have post & preview buttons again!
How much more is there to do and when are we likely to see it go live? (I assume today's blog merger was part of the preparations)

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

Detective Jelv you presume correct!  Yes, Colin's been beavering away today getting the 'one blog' backend in place ready for the new site design 'skin' to roll - maybe even tomorrow!!!! (fingers, toes and other parts crossed).  Having all the articles in one blog and all of it managed by 'tags' is crucial to the new design working content-wise.  I mentioned this in today's EOD (that's over on the front page if you're reading this and haven't read any of our regular 'end of day's before).  In fact, now we've got all the blogs lumped together, there's all sorts on the front page. Why not go and have a read? There's some great stuff on there!

Bless him, he's come over all unnecessary.
Calm down lad, it'll all come together and we're just as exited as you.

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

As a consequence of today's changes (I think) my Google reader has picked up 3 copies of today's End of Day. Can someone confirm that from now on we should subscribe to http://community.plus.net/feed/ only.
Perhaps a mention the need to drop any subscriptions to the old departmental blogs should go out in the service status announcement when it is made.

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

Actually, I've just looked at the feed on the beta site and it looks like we should un-subscribe from all feeds and start again as it now comes via feed burner.

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

Well it's blown my 7 day Community News parser over on PUG out of the water?  I've got 4 copies of the same thing.  I'll look at it tomorrow.
http://usergroup.plus.net/PlusnetRSS.php
It used to pick up data from each of the feed individually?  Ah well all change is good Cool

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

That's what I found in Google Reader - if you just delete all except http://community.plus.net/feed/ it should be fine.

Re: New Community Skin (Take 2)

I expect so.  It'll reduce the code a bit too.
