Never seen SNR this low

I'm on end of a long line and normally achieve around 3mbs d/load.
What would explain the low reading below for SNR currently?
Thanks
Never seen this low before.

Re: Never seen SNR this low

Could be many things really, hard to tell just from the stats unfortunately. Hopefully the SNR being that low hasn't caused any issues though.

Thanks Chris; speed now dropped, and SNR up.
Page loading times at 0.5snr was painful:

Re: Never seen SNR this low

Router always on here, but on checking at 7am, not internet light.
Reboot, and internet connection established, at around 760Kpbs; thought I'd best not reboot again.
Went out came back at 11.15, no DSL or /Net light  Tongue
Reboot, still no DSL.
eventually achieved internet at:
Downstream 21/4 11.15am

Current Rate (Kbps)
448 160
Max Rate (Kbps)
704 64
SNR Margin (dB)
9 9.5
Line Attenuation (dB)
31.5 55
Occupancy (%)
63 250
Errors (Pkts)
0 0
and DSL keeps falling over, recovers for  a time but no interweb.
I'm assuming something wrong at exchange.
Nothing showing recently on Exchange Checker.
Reboot (via s/ware) couplef times, as no DSL showing, then success.
Let's hope current stays, as this is within my usual range:
Upstream
Downstream

Current Rate (Kbps)
448 [color=blue]2656 (Weird)

Max Rate (Kbps)
912 2688
SNR Margin (dB)

Line Attenuation (dB)

Occupancy (%)

SNR Margin (dB) 13 24
Line Attenuation (dB) 31.5 54
Occupancy (%) 53 250
Errors (Pkts) 0 0
REBOOTING, achieve I/net :
 Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (Kbps) 448 2688
Max Rate (Kbps) 904 2720
SNR Margin (dB) 15 8.5
Line Attenuation (dB) 31.5 56.5
Occupancy (%) 49 98
Errors (Pkts) 0 0
Within 10 minutes, speed dropping:
  Upstream Downstream

Re: Never seen SNR this low

That looks like a fault to me.
I can see you've started the troubleshooter already so I'd recommend finishing it off so our Faults team can have a look.

Re: Never seen SNR this low

Matthew, thanks.
Doing diagnostic check on my TP Modem I see some fails, as below.
Anything obvious I should be doing after yet another reboot.
Can't send small e mails too currently, which I assume is all related.
TP Link Modem:
Test Internet surfing
    Test xDSL Synchronization Pass
    ATM OAM Segment Ping Pass
ATM OAM end to end Ping Pass
    Test PPP Server connection Pass
    Test authentication with ISP Pass
Test the assigned IP address Pass
    Ping default gateway Fail
Ping primary Domain Name Server Fail
    Test DNS Root Fail
    Network Connection Status Inspect(NCSI) Fail

Tried old Netgear; are these latency figures giving any clues to my issue pse?
Many sites very slow to render, many fail to load at all.
Pinging default gateway shows 2ms, which I assume is OK?
BBC Am I right in thinking this is this bad, especially for UK sites?

Re: Never seen SNR this low

I am tidying up my downstream cabling currently, as I have a feeling there's an intermittent fault
on one socket or device.
There'll be a few disconnections whilst this happens, & I know I'll be punished Embarrassed

Re: Never seen SNR this low

Just make sure you log into the router and click to disconnect before powering any router/modem down.

Re: Never seen SNR this low

My ticket is progressing and Mark in Faults team ran another line check and advised though router showing 3200 in
Fact real speed was just 100 Crazy
He ascertained fault on my BT phone connection at exchange related to faulty battery connection...and I
Needed to report fault to BT.
Called 151 + their line check came back as No Fault Angry
They said PLUS Net needed to sort!
Eventually BT passed me to Broadband faults, presumably Openreach- their line test showed same result
As PLUS Net had.
They promise an exchange fix by May 1, when I can ask for reset to sort my lack of latency grief.

Re: Never seen SNR this low

As the problem on my Broadband service has been identified as fault at my BT Exchange, and effectively had no broadband since
Saturday with a fix promise of "by May 1", will + Net give me any credit and claim back on BT?

Re: Never seen SNR this low

We often find faults when doing broadband tests that show on the PSTN side of the network. Generally speaking these will also show when we run a phone line test for customers.
However, you have to use the correct wording to BT. Don't tell them that your calling because your broadband is slow. Doing so will (quite rightly) have them revert you back to your ISP whoever that maybe. You need to ask them to run a line test. A battery contact should be easily found and raised for you by the telecom supplier. Alternatively, bring the phone to us, and we'll do all the testing for you.
