I had fibre installed about 8 days ago but have noticed that the modem has been plugged in to a non-surge protected power strip. I want to change this over but wondered what the best way of doing this is? I'm aware of how aggressive the DLM is and seem to have already lost 20Mb from my initial sync speed of over 70Mb so really don't want to see it drop any lower!
Any advice appreciated!

Unplug it, make a cuppa, drink it, make another, drink it then plug it back in.
Basically leave at least 30 minutes after switching it off before switching it back on and you should be fine, probably less but better to be safe than sorry.

I've read a few suggestions, and the 'best' method seems to be;
End the PPPoE session in the router first.
Power down the modem, before unplugging the phone cable.
Don't plug the modem back in for at least 30 minutes.

We recently had a sparkie working in the house and the power was on and off about a dozen times during the day.
Didn't make a ha'p'orth of difference to the modem, router or speed etc!
