I would certainly try it in the master socket first of all and see if there's any difference, we can then go from there.

Hasn't been on very long but it's already picking up FEC errors:

Reckon it's anything to do with the high SNM?

Yes SNRM is high, but that might be due to other issues. Do your parents turn the router off every night?
The high error rate is concerning too.
Can you follow the guidance here please - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html - specifically try running with the router plugged into the test socket, try a new filter and if you have one, try a different router. Thereafter raise a BB fault ticket.

They say they don't, so I'm inclined to say they don't"
Those stats are from the test socket btw, used a few different filters. I don't have a corded phone atm but I'll be grabbing one tomorrow to see if the line is quiet. It sounds quite hissy with a cordless, but that could be because it cordless

I'd suggest running through our faults wizard.

Trying a Home Hub 2.0 Type A right now, I think it's a little faster (the output power is higher in router stats)
Edit: Switched back to the 582n, seems to throw less errors, run's a bit faster. It looks like the SNM has dropped a bit and the output has increased:

Managed to get a listen on a quiet line test with a wired handset, it's very very quiet. Just a question, what is output power? I'm just wondering seeing as it is so low compared to when our line was better. I'm really hoping this isn't something more sinister...

Quote Just a question, what is output power?
I'm not personally aware of how the output power (which I assume to be the current that runs down the line) could have a negative effect on the connection. However I am aware that most routers pick that up either at a very low figure or at 0 so I don't believe it's anything to be concerned about.

Another side note, I noticed that the router resets at around midnight and it's been happening for the last few days, how do I find out why it's doing that? I also don't seem to have an estimated speed on my profile but I doubt that matters

Can do, your downstream target margin appears to be set to 15dB which is rather high - any chance you could post some updated router stats so I can be sure it won't cause any issues please? More than likely it'll be fine but better safe than sorry.

I noticed that it resynced at a lower profile a few days ago and the errors sky rocketed but there we are, hopefully a reset will sort it out. Thanks for the help so far!

The higher your SNR value is, the more tolerant your line can be to interference, if we were to lower it, I can really only see it getting worse.
I'd be happy to take a closer look at your line tomorrow when I'm in the office, I might be able to save you some time by identifying where the issue might lay and get that picked up.
