Hi Hairy Biker,
Have you tried again today at all? I'm currently trying to identify any issues.

Re: NO connection to Usenetnews tonight.

It is fine today, but last night I was getting no headers at all. Gave up on it.
Nothing on their status page.

Re: NO connection to Usenetnews tonight.

Funny that I just noticed that while I was getting normal usenet speeds earlier this evening it has now shrunk to 2-3kbps. So I connected to a vpn and now I can download from the same usenet servers at several hundred kbps. Which suggests plus.net are throttling usenet.
Now I know they said they do this at peak times but this evening at least they seem to be rather overdoing it, certainly far more then earlier in the month. Perhaps their peak time problems are leading them to squash everything else out? Who knows. Its hard not to wonder if all the new fibre customers are sucking up the bandwidth.

Sorry? I thought plusnet didn't throttle *anything* on unlimited???

Re: NO connection to Usenetnews tonight.

Can't speak for the other fellow but I'm not on unlimited. I'm on the 60gb a month package. To move to unlimited I would lose my first year half price discount rate and go from £8 to £16.99  a month so I haven't.
As far as I could make out they don't throttle much but torrents and usenet are throttled at peak times for my account type. I don't use either enough to care about slower speeds but its going to be a pain if they are completely unusable. Probably it will sort itself out it time. FIngers crossed.

That's not quite right. It might not be throttled but it IS "prioritised". Usenet has almost the lowest priority - bronze.
