My first fortnight with Plusnet FTTC, is this normal?

Lousy connection stability, mainly with the Openreach box (but also the plusnet router showing a red light) mostly after 9PM but also during the day.

This  means since moving to plusnet from O2 i dont do any online sim racing on an evening as i dont trust the connection and also  one night i had to drive into work a couple of nights to resolve some on call work as the connection was unreliable and i didnt trust doing remote network changes with a link that was going up/down.
I have logged an online ticket and not heard anything.
Really disappointed at the moment, is everyone's FTTC unstable?
can a kind plusnet person please look and report back my connection graph and help?

Re: My first fortnight with Plusnet FTTC, is this normal?

Hi there,
Not looking good I'm afraid:

I'd definitely raise that as a dropping connection fault. I'm afraid the fault ticket you raised previously seems to have been closed because you advised the connection was working? Well worth running through it again.

The answer is no. You've obviously been very unlucky there, I wonder if it's a bad connection on the line?
Can you hear/have you heard any crackling or other noises on the line when using the phone? Have you had any problems with incoming or outgoing calls?

Re: My first fortnight with Plusnet FTTC, is this normal?

thanks for the info,
No problems with the voice line that im aware of although its not used much apart from telling the cold callers to sling their hook.
When the engineer (BT contractor) was connecting up the connection, he broke something with no dial tone and internet worked but voice calls didnt, he had to pop back to the cab to fix something and he resolved the voice line, although he didnt screw back in the face plate as he was running way over schedule.
my speeds have also dropped from 73/16 to  32/4

Plusnet will need to get an engineer back to you, sounds like the bloke made a right cock-up. Have you put all that info on your ticket. If not, do so, and hopefully Matt or one of the DCT members will pick this up in the morning and get something organised for you.

Thanks again.

Re: My first fortnight with Plusnet FTTC, is this normal?

Just got a kick in balls email from plusnet.
"Now that your service has now been active for 14 days, we thought we'd let you know the speed as it stands today, by way of comparison.
Estimated line speed: 11Mbps
Current line speed: 38.6Mbps
before i bought
Estimated Broadband Speed:
63 Mbps
(Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit)
The new estimate is slower than my former O2 ADSL broadband 15Mbit, and im also playing for the unlimited fibre broadband.
If i had the accurate information before purchasing i wouldnt of gone with plusnet.
Time to ring up and cancel this whole fiasco if it cant be resolved, hopefully by BT sorting out thier line.

I hope you didn't double-arm DDT him for that Wink
In all seriousness I'm sorry for the hassle and any inconvenience that might have caused you I'll do my best to make sure we review the engineer notes and reply to the ticket for you ASAP.
PS sorry for the email too by the way, it's automated so there's no ill-intent intended.

The family are now giving me grief, our connection is still up and down like a brides night shirt, more outages in a day than 3 years with O2.
