Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Connection dropped out again shortly after my last post. I'm not sure if it was because the router rebooted or just connection dropped.
However it's been up for almost a couple of hours now so here's hoping it's settled down now. Just hoping for a little extra speed, especially on upload but hopefully this will improve over the next 10 days assuming it's line training like Sky was.

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

It looks like you've been put on a capped upload, I'm going to place an order to put your line to the uncapped upload. This should complete tomorrow.

Thanks Chris. Can you confirm that the low download speed will hopefully improve after the 10 day training period?

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Once the training period has completed we'll be able to investigate any issues with the speed,assuming this is below the estimates for your line.
I'm hopeful that over the next week or so you'll see an improvement.

Thanks Chris. Estimate was about 5mb - with O2 and Sky I got just over 6mb even though their estimate was around 5mb too. Quite happy if it gets to that and the upload gets a bit higher - usually got around 1mb with O2 and 0.7 with Sky.

If you are concerned about the speeds the first thing is to post the router stats - noise margin, speed and attenuation

Not concerned at the moment - really just wanted to check that training does happen over first 10 days as O2 never did this but Sky did.

How's the upload speed looking today?

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Chris,
I have no idea as I cannot even load speedtest.net. Most websites are not loading at all or are very slow to load. It's back to the same issue as I had on Monday night when it was first switched on. Basically it's not useable. Can someone please look at it urgently?

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Finally had to reboot the router as almost nothing was loading. I noticed before rebooting that SN margin down was 1.5dB which sounds far too low and there were loads of errors showing.
Router stats now show;

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 272

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 37
Managed to do a speedtest and got;

So upload much improved, download still slower than I'd like. However let's see what the 10 day training ends up with and I'd like to leave the router alone for a bit so as not to interrupt that training.
Just a little concerned as to what went wrong tonight that I had to reboot though.

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Thanks for the updates, there's a bit of headroom in the SNR margin that should mean your speed increases as the SNR margin decreases. Let us know if you have any issues again with poor performance.

Thanks Chris. Did you mean that over the next 10 days as DLM kicks in, the speed should increase?
Has training started?

Re: Moving from Sky full LLu to Plusnet

Possibly yes, if it doesn't change by the end of the training period we can perform an SNR reset, which will set the target SNR back to a level we define and should give the speed an increase too.
