Moving Home

I have got a 24 month contract with Plus net, this was done as when moving into our rented house we were planning on being there for 2+ years. Due to circumstances we have been told to move out of our house. We are due to move back in with family for 6-9 months so we are unsure what to do with the broadband we have. We are still in contract for 17 more months but will not need broadband where we are going. So Im not sure whether we need to cancel and what fee would be involved in this or whether there is an option to freeze a contract until we move into our new house.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Moving Home

Unfortunately, @clairemorley29 , your only option in this case is to cancel your current contract, which will result in Early Termination Charges of your current contract monthly price multiplied by the remaining months, minus a small percentage for PN's 'savings', which you can only obtain by contacting PN Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 when you know your moving date.

There is no option to 'freeze' a contract in this situation.

@clairemorley29

Phone PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to confirm matters. They may, or may not be able to quote what the ETC charge will be. If not, they can put you onto someone who can.

Re: Moving Home

@bmc COTS are the only staff who can confirm ETCs - providing you know when you are intending to close the account, as it is a charge which reduces as the remaining contract length does.

Re: Moving Home

A difficult situation.

Would you be able to move the service to the family address (possibly as a second line)?

That might be better value than paying early termination charges.

Early termination charges are not a penalty charge. They will always be less than the outstanding contract cost.

Re: Moving Home

Absolutely it's not a penalty charge, it is, however, a payment for which you don't get a service.

Buying yourself out of most of a contract with nothing for it (and a one off payment) might be less good value than an extra service somewhere for a period and a service that could be shifted again.

It might be a possibility.
