Moved house, can I use old router whilst waiting on openreach engineer

Hi, we've moved house and are getting full fibre however the engineer can't visit until March.

We still have our router from our previous flat, is there any way this can be activated and used from the property until the engineer attends?

@Ykb08170 Have you done this as a 'house move' and taken your account with you? If you have, and you are connected, presumably on an FTTC connection which has been completed, you should be able to just plug the router in and carry on as before.

Hi John, thanks for getting back to me. Yes I let Plusnet know there was a house move, when I plug it in it's just a red light and I can't connect to the internet

Ah, so it looks like your connection hasn't been made then. Did you ask them to provide an FTTC connection until they could arrange the Full Fibre?

No not that I am aware of/don't think so. If I call up support will they be able to help with this?

That is why you don't have any connection then. I see no reason why a call on Monday might be an idea - it will involve an engineer call-out, but only to your local FTTC cabinet, they shouldn't need to visit your house.

Don't take what I say as gospel though, as I obviously don't know exactly what you have arranged with PN.

@Ykb08170 what internet connection was in the property before ? was it full fibre ? and do you know what ISP the previous occupants used ?

If your area is designated as 'Fibre priority' then (if its available to the property) only Full fibre can be provided
