Re: Move to adsl2+ please

Hi Warren

Ah sorry I finished my shift at 6:30. Let’s see how the engineer visit goes on Friday.

If the engineer can’t find a fault and there are still errors we can cap your upload speed at ~0.448kbps which will raise the SNRM target.

This is my personal Community Forum account to help out around these parts while I'm at home. If I'm posting from the 1st March 2020, this means I'm off-duty with no access to internal systems.

Re: Move to adsl2+ please

Just for an update, all seems to have settled down. The new router seems to have done a great job. I’m not sure if the engineer is still necessary tomorrow, I’ll let you guys decide, don’t want to hassle anybody if not needed.
Been up over 19 hours now, sitting at 6.5 down and 6.5 up, below are the stats.

Re: Move to adsl2+ please

I don’t think them stats are too bad all.
If the up was capped lower as Gandalf suggested and interleaving set on high permanently (I dont mind the extra latency ,with long line anyway) I’d say it should be fine.
There is obviously a wee fault somewhere along the line but where I live that’s quite a common occurance. If the router can take care of the errors I’m not noticing any loading or throughput issues at all.
The weather is terrible outside today, very wet and windy , so if line hasn’t dropped today it should be fine 😊

Might you share a full set of line stats please?

Re: Move to adsl2+ please

Fix

Ah nice, looking good. (Good for a long rural line that is)

I agree, so I've cancelled the engineer visit and I've placed an order to cap your upstream, enable interleaving and put your connection on to a custom stability profile (which basically tells DLM not to make positive changes unless there are zero errors, something we'd normally do to prevent DLM from moving a SNRM target down to 3dB)

All this should take effect from tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. Smiley

Re: Move to adsl2+ please

Cheers Gandalf, much appreciated.

Think it’s better trying to get a profile to suit the errors and dlm to accept them, rather than finding the fault. On a long ancient ancient line like mine there is always going to be a fault, openreach as common around here as the cows 😂
If I can get the line to stay where it is now, at least it’s useable, can stream Netflix etc easily in SD.
I’ll let I run over the weekend and post back next week with an update.
Thanks again Gandalf , you most definatly are a wizard 👍😊

Townsman, thanks for the input.
Few changes happening tomorrow so not much point putting stats up, I’ll put them up next week when the changes have been active for a while

Haha, and makes sense, sounds like a plan Warren. Smiley

Re: Move to adsl2+ please

Ha , Brilliant 😂

Think we can close this off now , don’t want to keep thread going as I know you guys are busy, all seems resolved 😊

It changed 2.5 hours ago and the upstream would have appear to have been the problem .

Only had a few hundred fec instead of thousands and only 2 crc and 1 es in the last 2.5 hours instead of hundreds 👍🎉

Since the cap the up SNR is now 19, which appears to have done the trick 😊

Thanks very much for everyone’s input and help, very much appreciated and if anything pops up again I know where to come. 👌
