At the moment i get 5.1mb with Plusnet for £31.00 a month

I see if i resign for an 18 month contract, i could pay £19.99 a month

That sounds very good till you look at the download speeds

0.4MB download ? erm, i don't think so, thank you very much.

Ever 1-3MB is slower than i get now!

@wufer That pathetic Minimum is the BT inspired 'get-out' clause. I have a feeling anyone on ADSL is given that, so that if your speed drops and you want them to investigate - properly - they don't have to bother, unless you get 0.00.

Anyone getting that derisory 'speed' should scream loudly, even if they are at the end of a VERY long line. I get that, 2 miles approx from the exchange, and maybe a max of 500m from my green cabinet. My estimated speed is 3-5Mb/s, but I get about 8, even with an elevated SNR.

@wufer If you get 5Mbps now you will get the same on a new contract. Nothing on your line will change. The estimates are just that and often wrong.

2. If FTTC is available then go on to a price compaison website and find a budget mainstream FTTC supplier such as Vodaphone's price.

3. Ring Plusnet customer services, select the 'I'm thinking of leaving' optiona and quote the competitors price.

You can almost guarantee that you will get an offer to upgrade to fibre foe not much more than £19.99 per month. It will be much less than your current out of contract price.
